SRH University in North Rhine-Westphalia launches sustainability study program

As one of only a few universities in Germany, the SRH University of Applied Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia recently received the "Climate Positive" seal, among other things for its commitment to international climate protection projects.

Rector Prof. Dr. Lars Meierling already announced in the fall that these projects as part of the university's Corporate Social Responsibility are only the beginning of the university's contribution to social, ecological and economic sustainability, ecological and economic sustainability. "Since the topic of sustainability is one of the central points of the university's strategic orientation, it is the logical step to now integrate the 'Focus on Sustainability' into the university's course offerings now," emphasized
Meierling.

"We are currently working at full speed on the master's program "Sustainability & Transformation Management M. Sc.", said Dr. Jane Gleißberg, who is responsible for the subject at the university.

"This course of study will curricularly follow the CORE principle and cover the topics of sustainability from the Ecology, Economy and Social fields and the transfer of these fields to companies, institutions and organizations, taking transformational approaches into account." The degree program is expected to start as early as the winter semester of 2022.

According to Gleißberg, the university sees itself as having a responsibility not only to inspire young people for the the topic of sustainability, but also to use the new course of study to impart well-founded application skills with the new course of study.
